An input device inputting an operation instruction to an electronic device in a non-contact state includes: an exciter 1 that excites a surface of a specific part of a human body of an operator by a cosine wave of a first frequency; an oscillator 50 that oscillates a reference signal of a cosine wave of a second frequency different by a predetermined beat frequency with respect to he first frequency; at least two detection electrodes 20A and 20S that detect an electromagnetic field to be output from the specific part; and a beat signal generator that generates a synthetic beat signal represented by a sum or difference of each beat signal by respective detection signals and the reference signal from two signals RA and RB of any of the detection signals obtained from the electromagnetic fields detected by the detection electrodes and the reference signal. On the basis of the synthetic beat signal to be output by the beat signal generator, the operation instruction to the electronic device is imparted.
