Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new input device equipped with a high-quality display function.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal element 30 is constituted by arranging a liquid crystal layer 24 made of a liquid crystal material changing from a transmission state to a scatter state in light irradiation between substrates 22 and 23. An address substrate 26 is arranged on the side of the substrate 23 of the liquid crystal element 30. Prepit parts 28 consisting of plural recesses and projections showing addresses of the element 30 are formed on the address substrate 26, and its surface a reflecting film 29 is formed and an input pen 31 as an indicating means which irradiates the address substrate 26 with light 31a and detects reflected light from a reflecting film 29 is arranged on the side of the substrate 22 of the liquid crystal element 30.
