Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a moth proofing agent for protein-based fibers capable of controlling insect pests which damage protein-based fibers without adverse effect on human beings and beasts or environment by including an insecticidal protein which a specific bacterial cell or a specific bacterium produces as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This moth proofing agent is obtained by including (A) a bacterial cell of Bacillus thuringiensis or (B) an insecticidal protein which the bacterium produces as an active ingredient. Bacillus thuringiensis SSK-10 strain (FERM BP-6162) is especially preferable among the component A. The component A and component B are preferably combinedly used with a sticking agent. A natural protein is preferable as the sticking agent. For example, wool keratin, silk fibroin or collagen is exemplified as the suitable natural protein. A protein obtained by treating a natural protein with a protease so as to reduce average molecular weight of the protein to 5,000 to 30,000 is especially effective as the natural protein.
