PURPOSE: An insecticide composition suitably applicable to paddy fields that contains a specific cyclopropanecarboxylate as an effective component, thus having high insecticidal activity with low toxicity to mammarians and fishes.
CONSTITUTION: Said composition contains a cyclopropanecarboxylate of the formula (A is H, cyano, ethynyl) so that the trans isomer dominates the cis isomers in their mixture that originates from the three-membered ring of the effective component, preferably exceeding 70%. The composition is effective on insect pests in agriculature and forestry, e.g., leafhopper or plant hopper coming to have resistance to organophosphorus and carbamate insecticides, as well as sanitarily harmful insects, insect pests of stored grains and mites. It has high light stability and residual effect, further extremely low toxicity to mammarians and fishes.
