PURPOSE: To detect curvature in an optional direction by picking up an image of a lead terminal slantingly to the lengthwise direction of the lead and calculating the position of its tip in a screen.
CONSTITUTION: An image is picked up by cameras 6 and 7 at an angle θ to the lengthwise directions of lead terminals 1 and 2. Then, a translucent diffusing plate 4 is installed opposite the cameras 6 and 7 across the lead terminals, and lighted by a lighting equipment from behind to discriminate between a background image and a lead terminal plate clearly. Then, video signals of the cameras 6 and 7 are sent to an image processing part 8 to detect positions of tips of the lead terminals in the screen. Then, whether or not their deviations from positions in the screen which are registered previously is inspected and the result is sent to a mechanism control part 9. Then, the control part 9 sets operation for discharging defectives through another route to discharge inspected parts and also supply new parts to be inspected. When the supply is completed, a processing part 8 is actuated.
