To provide an inspection apparatus having a mechanism capable of absorbing the effect of a projecting part when the projecting part or the like is present on an object for measurement.
A spindle 24 of a connection part 20 is connected to a first gear 50a, and a spindle 36 of a connection part 22 is connected to an eighth gear 50h. The first gear and the eighth gear are connected to each other via a second gear 50b to a seventh gear 50g of the even number which are engaged in series. Thus, two arms 26 and 38 are connected to each other via the gears of even number which are connected in series to each other. Each gear has a constant backlash, such as a spur gear. Even when the attitude of one traveling part is fixed to a support part 14, the other traveling part is displaceable by a predetermined play.
