To provide an inspection device enabling sure collection of one work piece which is a sheet-shaped object comprising non-woven fabric and having a predetermined shape, automating inspection, and inhibiting variation of the inspection accuracy, and an inspection method using the inspection device.SOLUTION: An inspection device includes first holding means that holds a sheet-shaped object with adhesive tape, a plurality of pieces of transportation means that substantially horizontally transport the sheet-shaped object, detachment means that is provided on the most upstream transportation means and suctions the sheet-shaped object held by the first holding means from below a conveyor belt to separate the sheet-shaped object from the first holding means, imaging means that chapters an image of the sheet-shaped object when the sheet-shaped object is transferred from transportation means on the upstream side to transportation means on the downstream side, image processing means that processes the captured image to determines the presence or absence of defects, and second holding means that is provided on the lowermost side and puts the sheet-shaped object which has been inspected in one of a plurality of sorting boxes in accordance with the determination result on the presence or absence of defects.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
