Title:
INSTRUMENT FOR DETECTING MOLTEN STEEL LEVEL IN TUNDISH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0466267
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To accurately detect remaining molten steel quantity in a tundish by burying one pair of electric conductive refractories mutually being apart at the same level in the ordinary refractory in the tundish so as to expose on inner face of the tundish and connecting with the fixed voltage electric source.

CONSTITUTION: One pair of electric conductive refractories 11 are buried as being apart at the same level in the ordinary refractory 12 in the tundish 6 so as to expose on the inner face of tundish 6. The fixed voltage electric source 13 for impressing the voltage to these one pair of the electric conductive refractories 11, is connected and a displayed lamp 14 for turning on a light at the time of conducting the electricity is arranged. In this constitution, at the time of casting a cast slab 8 by pouring molten steel 5 into a mold 7 from the tundish 6, the molten steel 5 level is lowered at the end period of casting, and by bringing the slag 9 into contact with the electric conductive refractory 11, as the electric resistance is large, the electricity is scarcely conducted and the voltage and the current are drastically varied. By this method, the detection of remaining molten steel 5 level is accurately executed and involution of slag 9 into the mold 7 and the excessive remaining steel quantity are released.
