To provide an instrument for measuring and monitoring the weight of a melting electrode for an electroslag remelting device which can avoid impacts developed during preparation or initial stage of melting and moments developed during measurement without enlarging the whole scale.

An instrument for measuring and monitoring the weight of a melting electrode is provided with three or more load receiving seats 8a-8c at the lower side of an upper frame 4 fitted with a stinger rod 2 for fixing the melting electrode 1 and with load cells 6a-6c at the positions corresponding to the load receiving seats 8a-8c at the upper side of a lower frame 5 fitted so as to be sockable to a vertically moving supporting frame 7. The above instrument is further provided with three or more hydraulic cylinders 9a-9c which can elevate the upper frame 4 to a position where three or more load cells 6a-6c are not loaded between the upper frame 4 and the lower frame 5.
