PURPOSE:To obtain the measuring instrument which visualizes the optical axis of inspecting light and can easily position a wall thickness measuring point by radiating a visible laser beam having the optical axis aligned to the optical axis of the inspecting light together with the inspecting light to a vessel and measuring the wall thickness. CONSTITUTION:This measuring instrument has a light source section 11 which generates the inspecting light, a visible laser light source section 21 for generating the visible laser beam, a mixing mirror 31 which reflects the inspecting light but allows the transmission of the visible laser beam, a light projector 41 which radiates inspecting light and the visible laser beam in the state of aligning the optical paths to each other to the point to be inspected of the wall surface of the vessel 2, and a light receiver 51 which faces the light projector 41, receives the inspecting light transmitted through the vessel 2 and converts the same to an electric signal. The inspecting light reflected by the mirror 31 and the visible laser beam transmitted through the mirror 31 are introduced in the state of aligning the optical axes to each other to the light projector 41. The inspecting light which is projected to the same point of the vessel 2 from this light projector 41 and transmitted through the vessel 2 is converted by the corresponding electric signal by the light receiver 51.
