Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an insulating composition consisting of a specific polyethylene fluoroalkyl-substituted (meth)acrylate and organic peroxide crosslinking agent, excellent in resistance to water treeing and heat resistance and suitable as insulating layer material for power cable. CONSTITUTION:The objective insulating composition obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. of at least one kind of polyethylene selected from crystalline high- pressure-processed low-density polyethylene and crystalline low pressure- processed straight-chain low-density polyethylene containing 4-10C olefin as a comonomer with (B) 0.05-10 pts.wt., preferably 0.3-5 pts.wt. fluoroalkyl- substituted (meth)acrylate expressed by the formula (X is H or methyl; R1 is alkylene, preferably ethylene or propylene; R2 is fluoroalkyl, preferably alkyl having fluorine-substituted terminals; m is 1-10, preferably 1-5) and (C) 0.2-6 pts.wt., preferably 1-4 pts.wt. organic peroxide crosslinking agent (e.g. dicumyl peroxide) and preferably further hindered phenol based antioxidant, etc.
