Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase alkali resistance and sealing/joining reliability, by forming a metallic member of the conducting part as it has elasticity, and sealing/joining metalic members and an electrically insulated body in a reactive metal method.

CONSTITUTION: Each of a part 16 of contact between a terminal 11 and its curved elastic supporting member 14, both of which are conductors, a part 15 of contact between an alkali resisting ceramic member 13 and said supporting member 14, and a part 15 of contact between this ceramic member 13 and a conductive battery case 12, is sealed in a reactive metal method. A part of the supporting member 24 which contacts with the terminal 11 is formed as to be a wave-shaped part 14a, and this part absorbs the external force which acts on the member 11. In performing said sealing/joining in the reactive metal method, a wax material is produced through blending a main metal such as Ti and other metals Ni, Cu, and Ag, which form an alloy of low melting point with said main metal, as to be an eutectic point composite, this wax material is inserted into parts which should be sealed, and they are sealed by performing a heat-treatment in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere. In this way, the reliability of the sealing/joining efficiency is high.
