To provide a method for repairing an insulation blanket when a great portion of a metallized fabric layer is separated from a ceramic fabric layer on the base of the insulation blanket.

The method and a system are provided for repairing the insulation blankets 24a, 24b from an underlying layer 30 of which a metallized fabric 26 is separated. The method comprises cutting a first slit in the metallized fabric 26 near a separated portion of the metallized fabric 26, inserting a repairing material 50 through the first slit to position the repairing material 50 between the separated portion of the fabric and the underlying layer, and adhering the separated fabric 26 and the underlying layer 30 to the repairing material 50 to recover the function of the metallized fabric 26.
