Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an insulator for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, improved in sound absorbing and heat insulating performance.
SOLUTION: A cover member 10 formed of a steel plate, a glass fiber mat member 11 laminated on the inside of the cover member 10, and a glass fiber cloth member 12 laminated on the surface of the mat member 11 are integrally assembled to form an exhaust manifold A provided at a cylinder head 1 of an engine. Excellent sound absorbing function is obtained by the glass fiber mat member 11, and the scatter of fiber of the mat member 11 can be prevented by the cloth member 12. An insulator is formed by integrating members so as to be fitted easily.
