Abstract:

To suppress delay of change control of intake air quantity accompanying operation delay when operation of an intake valve opening area changing means delays.

This device is provided with a variable valve timing device 8 and both of a 3D cam system 12 and a throttle valve 17 capable of changing opening area of an intake valve 2 for change control of intake air quantity. When operation delay of the variable valve timing device 8 and the 3D cam system 12 is larger than a threshold TDLY, ratio of controlling throttle valve opening for control intake air quantity is increased (mode A) as compared with that when operation delay DLY is the threshold or less (mode B).
