Temporary opening operation of the intake valve, that is, boosting operation (t4 to t5) for realizing a state of fully closing the intake control valve and of opening the intake valve is performed. Since the area between the intake valve and the intake control valve in the intake passage becomes higher pressure than the exhaust passage (an exhaust port), the backflow of the residual gas in the overlapping period can be restrained.
