Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the combustion performance of an engine over the whole load region by changing over supercharging air from a supercharger to be supplied only to a tangential port in low load and also to a helical port in high load. CONSTITUTION:To a plurality of cylinders 2 in a Diesel engine 1 are respectively connected helical ports 5 and tangential ports 6. Also, the respective ports 5, 6 are respectively connected to intake paths 7. On the other hand, a change- over valve 15 is disposed between a first intake path 7a and the respective helical ports 5 while the connection of a second intake path 7b and the respective tangential ports 6 is connected to the change-over valve 15. Further, an exhaust turbo type supercharger 14 is disposed between the second intake path 7b and an exhaust path 13. The change-over valve 15 is changed over to supply supercharging air from a supercharger 14 only to the respective tangential ports 6 in low load and also to the respective helical ports 5 in high load.
