Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the charging efficiency and to miniaturize an intake system, in the captioned engine provided with both the independent intake passage having a long pipe conduit and a short intake pipe conduit which is branched on the way from said passage and is intercommunicated to an intercommunicating part common to each cylinder, by partially forming the wall of the intercommunicating part from a plate.

CONSTITUTION: A long intake passage 10 is provided in such a manner as being independent from each cylinder so as to intercommunicate said passage 10 to a surge tank 4 and a short intake passage 12 is provided such that said passage 12 is branched from the intake passage 10 and, on the way, is provided with an opening/closing valve 16. Upon a high speed range, the opening/closing valve 16 is opened so as to change intake property. The upper course of the intake passage 12 is intercommunicated to the intercommunicating part 14 common to each cylinder, and the wall of this intercommunicating part 14 is partially formed by the plate made from a pressed metal. The inner shape of the plate 20 is changed according to the property of each cylinder.
