Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an intake noise of an outboard motor engine.
SOLUTION: A V-shaped multi-cylinder engine is mounted with a crankshaft 9 placed longitudinally and the cylinders rearwardly developed into a V-shape. An intake silencer 34 is provided upward of a throttle body 32 disposed ahead of a crankcase portion 20b of the engine. The intake silencer 34 is composed of an intake silencer chamber 34V defined by a belt cover 101 covering a belt 54 of a valve mechanism and a lower wall member 34B, two right and left intake air drawing pipes 34L extending downwardly from the intake silencer chamber 34V and opening to an engine compartment, and one intake air introduction pipe 34C extending downwardly from the intake silencer chamber 34V and connected to an upper end of the throttle body 32.
