To miniaturize a reader/writer for an IC coin first and to inexpensively provide the reader/writer for the IC coin second.

The reader/writer for the IC coin is provided with: an accepting part for accepting the coin with its surface facing a customer and transporting the coin to a reading/writing part by moving it in a prescribed direction; the reading/writing part for holding the surface of the accepted IC coin in the state of being visible from a customer; a reading/writing unit of the IC coin arranged at the reading/writing part; and a sorting part for sorting the IC coins held by the reading/writing part to a return part.
