To provide an integrated ceramic/metallic component and a method of making same.
The integrated ceramic/metallic component (50) comprises a metallic non-foam region (52) and ceramic foam regions (60, 70, 80) comprising a gradient porosity therein, wherein the ceramic foam regions and the metallic non-foam region are integrally formed together to create the integrated ceramic/metallic component. The integrated ceramic/metallic component (50) comprises a metallic region (52) and a single piece ceramic foam construction (58) comprising a plurality of ceramic foam regions (60, 70, 80) therein, each ceramic foam region comprising a predetermined pore size and a predetermined volume percent porosity, wherein the single piece ceramic foam construction (58) is integrally joined to the metallic region (52) to form the integrated ceramic/metallic component. These components may be utilized in gas turbine engines.
