Abstract:
To significantly improve ability of recognizing a target in an area of interest, by reducing fixed matching errors and dynamic matching errors between an infrared (IR) line of site (LOS) and a laser LOS in a targeting and imaging system based on FLIR/laser.
The fixed matching errors between the IR LOS and the laser LOS are reduced by an improved internal boresight module (Fig. 10) and a corresponding boresight method. The dynamic matching errors are reduced by a photoelectric subsystem that uses a single pitch 405 bearing and a common pitch/yaw afocal 401 to both for laser energy and IR energy.
