Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficiently compacted pavement in which the upper bed is stuck to the lower bed well, by dividing the thick pavement into two and compacting them separately.
CONSTITUTION: A lower bed compacter 5 and an upper bed compactor 6 are disposed back and forth in the working direction and these are connected to each other detachably by a connector 7. The connector has a three-directional rotary degree of freedom but has not a vertical degree of freedom and a front and behind degree of freedom. The load of compacter 5 acts on the compacter 6. The paving material 11 fed to the compacter 5 drops from a feeder 13 and it is compacted by a leveling device 14 to form the lower bed 3 of pavement 2. The feeder conveys the paving material to the upper compacter 6 and the paving material is compacted on the lower bed by an upper bed leveling device 33 to form the upper bed. Both compacters 5, 6 are synchronously operated through the connector 7 and the upper and lower beds are continuously and securely compacted.
