Title:
INTER-LAN CONNECTION SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3893950
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-LAN connection system that interconnects a user LAN and a broadband LAN with an inexpensive constitution and limits the capacity of data transmitted between them in response to a request of a user.
SOLUTION: A data frame from the user LAN is fed to a first port 422 of a MAC (media access control) switch 404 via an optical physical layer termination section 402 terminating an optical fiber transmission line. A data frame from the broadband LAN is fed to a third port 426 of the MAC switch 404 via an electric physical layer termination section 406 terminating an electric transmission line. The MAC switch 404 has a plurality of ports 422 to 426 from which the data frame is transferred, a plurality of them are selected as the same VLAN group and the selected VLAN groups are externally connected to freely transfer data among the groups. The operating frequency depending on the operating band is fed to the external connection side via a band limit control section 410 to transfer data to the user LAN via the broadband LAN or the optical fiber transmission line while band limit is applied to the capacity of both transferred incoming and outgoing data respectively.
