Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a multifunctional sensor suitable for installation between the finishing stands of a hot rolling machine. CONSTITUTION:A U-shaped sensor holder 8 is installed between finishing stands in such a manner as being freely taken in and out and an X-ray generator 14a is mounted on the upper frame 8a of the holder 8 and an X-ray detector 14b is mounted on the lower frame 8b of the holder 8 to measure the center plate thickness of a strip. Three pairs of two-dimensional laser range findrs 15, 16, 17 are mounted at predetermined intervals on the right and left sides of the X-ray generator 14a to detect the positions of both end portions of the strip and an one-dimensional laser range finder 18 is mounted in the same position as the X-ray generator 14a and between the range finders 15, 16, 17 to measure the plate height of the strip. Further, a velocity sensor 19 is mounted on the lower frame 8b to measure the speed at which the strip travels and thereby the plate thickness, plate width and shape of the strip can be measured simultaneously.
