Abstract:
To provide a technique capable of obtaining a suitable inter-vehicle distance to a preceding vehicle while suppressing increase in processing load.SOLUTION: A technique is provided including: an image recognition unit having a vehicle recognition unit for recognizing a preceding vehicle from an image of the preceding vehicle and a number plate recognition unit for recognizing a number plate of the preceding vehicle from the image of the preceding vehicle; and a first inter-vehicle distance estimation unit for estimating an inter-vehicle distance between the preceding vehicle and an own vehicle based on a position of the number plate, a ratio of a vehicle width to a vehicle height of the preceding vehicle, and a ratio of a vehicle area of the preceding vehicle to an area of the number plate calculated from the image of the preceding vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
