To provide an interior base material for an automobile excellent in rigidity, a shape maintaining characteristic and a heat insulating property in a high temperature environment regardless of orientation of a fiber constituting the base material.
This interior base material for the automobile is furnished with a fiber layer including 5 to 70 mass% of a first short fiber the winding shrinkage number of which is 0 to 2 crests/25 mm and a second short fiber the winding shrinkage number of which is more than the first short fiber in a remaining part, and thickness under no load after molding is more than 10 mm. It is favorable that the fiber layer includes a thermal adhesive winding shrinkable short fiber of 30 mass% or more based on 100 mass% of the fiber layer as a part of the second short fiber. Additionally, it is possible to use a polyester group short fiber for the first short fiber and the second short fiber.
