Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the safety of an occupant by absorbing shock on a head when the head of the occupant collides with a hard portion of a functional parts unit arranged on the vehicle-room occupant side of a roof side portion, particularly, shock on the head in a secondary collision mode when shock is given from the side of the vehicle.
SOLUTION: A shock absorbing member 4 in a soft structure which is protruded to the inside of the vehicle room beyond a case 10 for a curtain air bag 3 with an upper extension portion entering into a gap between an inner panel 6a for a roof side rail 6 and a case 7 for the curtain air bag 3 and the inside of the vehicle room to be a guide plane for guiding the direction of developing an air bag 7 is arranged in close proximity to the lower part of the curtain air bag 3 arranged on the vehicle-room occupant side of the roof side portion at the side of a roof panel 2. The inside of the vehicle room is covered with a top ceiling 15. A shock absorbing member 20 is also arranged inside an roof insulator 19 on the vehicle-room occupant side of the roof panel 2.
