To provide a middle support for a ball screw device, capable of shortening a distance (a supporting span) between a supporting bearing and itself while having simple construction for avoiding displacement and an excessive load on a screw shaft.
The middle support is mounted on the screw shaft 1 of the ball screw device which includes the screw shaft 1 having a ball groove 2, a ball screw nut to be threaded to the ball groove 2 via a ball, and a circulating mechanism for circulating the ball between the ball screw nut and the screw shaft 1. It includes a clutch mechanism 30 provided between a supporting nut 20a which is threaded to the ball groove 2 of the screw shaft 1 via the ball 21 movably in the axial direction with the rotation of the screw shaft 1, and a member which is formed as part of a guide mechanism for guiding the nut 20a. The clutch mechanism 30 is put in a fastened condition to integrate the supporting nut 20a with the guide mechanism, but it is in a non-fastened condition to establish the idling condition of the supporting nut 20a.
