To provide an intermediate transfer belt for an image forming apparatus, the transfer belt having excellent rough-paper transferability and wear resistance and having no problem such as a filming phenomenon, by forming a surface layer excellent in wear resistance and less likely to cause defects such as pinhole even if the thickness is reduced, and to provide a method for manufacturing the intermediate transfer belt.

The intermediate transfer belt for the image forming apparatus includes at least the following three layers: (a) a base material layer made of resin; (b) an elastic layer containing rubber elastic resin; and (c) a surface layer containing fluororesin. In spectrum obtained by measuring the surface layer using an infrared spectroscopy (IR), when the height from the base line of the peak observed around 870 cm-1is defined as 1, the peak height around 760 cm-1is 0.2 or less, and the thickness of the surface layer is 0.5 to 4 μm.
