Abstract:
To acquire information such as a product type from an intermediate transfer medium without using an RFID tag.SOLUTION: In an intermediate transfer medium 10, a transfer layer 14 is provided on one surface of a support 11 in such a manner that it is releasable from the support 11. An identification pattern 16 including a plurality of notches 17 or holes 18 is formed at a width direction end of the intermediate transfer medium 10. A thermal transfer printer irradiates the intermediate transfer medium 10 with light, receives transmitted light or reflected light, and identifies a product type of the intermediate transfer medium 10 on the basis of a change in amount of the received light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
