Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel/water injection internal combustion engine which can enable water injection control with high accuracy with a relatively simple controlling method, reduce a device cost of a water-injection control manipulating equipment and can gain sufficient NOx reduction effect while executing both injection rate control for fuel injection and water injection. SOLUTION: A fuel/water injection internal combustion engine is so constituted that a high-pressure fuel from a fuel injection pump and water supplied from a water supply pump are injected into a combustion chamber from a single fuel injection valve, and is provided with a water-filling valve which is opened when a pressure in a high-pressure fuel passage provided at a water passage connected to the high-pressure fuel passage drops below a pressure in the water passage, a fuel return passage branched in the middle of the high- pressure fuel passage and connected to a fuel tank and a solenoid valve for opening/closing the fuel return passage.
