To provide technology for determining degree of degradation of catalyst provided in an upstream of a filter and having oxidation capacity in a catalyst degradation determination device for an internal combustion engine.
In the internal combustion engine provided with front stage catalyst, a particulate filter in a downstream thereof and a reducing agent supply means, and removing particulate matters collected in the filter by supplying reducing agent to regenerate the filter, degree of degradation of the front stage catalyst is determined large as difference between exhaust gas temperature in a downstream of the filter and exhaust gas temperature in an upstream of the filter is large after a predetermined time passed from start of removal of particulate matter by the reducing agent supply means.
