Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which secures the sealability between a chain cover and an oil seal fixing member even when an oil seal is attached to a crank shaft through the oil seal fixing member formed separately from the chain cover, and to provide a chain cover structure of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An engine 100 (an internal combustion engine) includes: a timing chain cover (TCC) 20 attached to an engine body 10 having a crank shaft 40; an oil seal 5 which is attached to an area near the timing chain cover 20 of the crank shaft 40; a retainer 50 disposed at the side of the timing chain cover 20 which is opposite to the engine body 10, the retainer 50 being used for fixing the oil seal 5 and made of aluminum alloy; and a seal member 6 disposed between the retainer 50 and the timing chain cover 20.
