Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of avoiding knocking resulting from a change of the intake valve closing timing at accelerating without resorting to an ignition timing retard which involves a torque drop.SOLUTION: The constitution of this invention enables variable control of the effective compression ratio with a variable compression ratio mechanism to change the mechanical compression ratio (nominal compression ratio) of the internal combustion engine and a variable dynamic valve mechanism to change the intake valve closing timing. At accelerating, the target mechanical compression ratio drops, and the target intake valve closing timing shifts from the advancing side of the lower dead center to its delaying side, wherein the shift takes place in delay owing to an actuation delay of the variable compression ratio mechanism or the variable dynamic valve mechanism. A fuel amount increasing correction is conducted while the actual intake valve closing timing lies within the prescribed range near the lower dead center, so as to avoid knocking.
