Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the change of a mechanical compression ratio.SOLUTION: A reverse input cutoff clutch of a variable compression ratio mechanism includes: an input shaft coupled to an electric motor; an output shaft coupled to an operator; a wedge member; and a moving member moving the wedge member in a reverse input torque action direction. A state of the reverse input cutoff clutch can be changed between a lock state in which the output shaft is prevented from rotating in the reverse input torque action direction by the wedge member and an unlock state in which the output shaft is permitted to rotate in the reverse input torque action direction. If it is necessary to cause the output shaft to rotate in the reverse input torque action direction while the reverse input cutoff clutch is in the lock state, a control unit calculates electric motor actuation start timing that enables an input torque to be equal to or higher than a reverse input torque since the electric motor starts to be actuated for causing the output shaft to rotate in the reverse input torque action direction until the input torque reaches a maximum value, and starts actuating the electric motor at the calculated actuation start timing.
