To provide an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine capable of maximally extracting operational performance of the internal combustion engine.
This exhaust system of the internal combustion engine 1 has an exhaust passage 2 for arranging a turbine rotor 3, a bypass passage 4 for bypassing the turbine rotor 3, a waist gate valve 5 arranged in the bypass passage 4, an EGR passage 6 connected to the exhaust passage 2 on the exhaust upstream side more than a connecting position of the bypass passage 4, an EGR cooler 7, and an EGR valve 8 arranged on the exhaust downstream side more than the EGR cooler 7. A first three-way valve 13 is arranged in the connecting position of the EGR passage 6 and the exhaust passage 2. A second three-way valve 15 is arranged in a bypass passage upstream side connecting part 14 on the exhaust upstream side of the turbine rotor 3. A connecting passage is arranged for communicating a section between the EGR cooler 7 and the EGR valve 8 with a section on the exhaust upstream side more than the waist gate valve 5.
