Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine capable of properly improving the output of an internal combustion engine by adjusting a pressure ratio between a first area and a second area of an exhaust passage.SOLUTION: An exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes: a waist gate passage 36 which connects a first area 26a on an upstream side of a supercharger 31 of an exhaust passage 26 and a second area 26 on a downstream side of the supercharger 31 of the exhaust passage 26 and on an upstream side of an exhaust purifying catalyst 32, and can be opened/closed by a first opening/closing valve 37; and a catalyst bypass passage 38 which is connected to a third area 26c on a downstream side of the exhaust purifying catalyst 32 of the exhaust passage 26 at an end portion on the downstream side, can be opened/closed by a second opening/closing valve 39, and adjusts a pressure ratio between the first area 26a and the second area 26b of the exhaust passage 26.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
