Abstract:
To keep ammonia injected from a nozzle liquid without using a complicated device for cooling fuel and without excessively increasing pressure in fuel piping compared to a value required for injecting fuel from the nozzle.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine using ammonia as fuel includes: a tank 3 storing liquid ammonia; a pump 4 boosting pressure of ammonia caused to flow into from the tank 3; an injector 25 injecting ammonia whose pressure has been boosted by the pump 4 to a combustion chamber 13 of an internal combustion engine 10 or an intake port 21 connected to the combustion chamber 13; and fuel piping 5 supplying ammonia from the tank 3 via the pump 4 to the injector 25. By causing ammonia divided from a flow in the fuel piping 5 to flow outside the fuel piping 5, the fuel piping 5 is cooled from outside by using vaporization latent heat caused by vaporization of ammonia.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
