Title:
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE HAVING COMBUSTION-TYPE HEATER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3514119
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine having a combustion-type heater which prevents an intake system structure from being thermally damaged even when the combustion-type heater is operated when the internal combustion engine is stopped, and effectively allows a catalyst converter to function even before the internal combustion engine is started.
SOLUTION: This engine 1 is provided with a combustion-type heater 17 on an intake pipe 23 for promoting the warming-up and improving the startability. A catalyst converter 39 which is provided on an exhaust pipe 42 of the engine 1 and purifies an exhaust gas of the engine 1, and an EGR path 90 to connect a part downstream of a part where the combustion-type heater is installed in the intake pipe 23 to a part upstream of a part where the catalyst converter is installed of the exhaust pipe 42, is provided, and when the engine 1 is a stopped condition immediately before starting the operation and the combustion-type heater 17 is required to operate, the combustion gas from the combustion-type heater 17 is fed from the intake pipe 23 to the exhaust pipe 42 through the EGR path 90.
