Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine and a piston, each enabling suppression of such a problem that fuel ingressed a gap (clevis) which is connected to a combustion chamber between the outer periphery of the piston and the inner periphery of a cylinder become unburned fuel in the cylinder.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 100 comprises a cylinder 1 and a piston 2 that reciprocates in the cylinder 1 to thereby expand and reduce a combustion chamber 4. The piston 2 includes a piston top surface 20 that is a wall surface partitioning the combustion chamber 4, and a piston outer peripheral side surface 21 that extends in a moving direction of the piston 2 and is connected to the piston top surface 20. The piston outer periphery side surface 21 comprises an oxygen storage portion 3 that has a function of storing oxygen included in intake air in the combustion chamber 4 and a function of ejecting the oxygen into the combustion chamber 4 and extends in the moving direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
