To provide a hydrogen utilizing internal combustion engine effective for suppressing the deterioration of a dehydrogenating catalyst, easy to construct and easy of maintenance.
Hydrogenated gasoline is injected by a hydrogenated gasoline injector 24 and supplied to the dehydrogenating catalyst 21 in a dehydrogenating reactor 22. The hydrogenated gasoline reacts to be dehydrogenated with the dehydrogenating catalyst 21 and separated into hydrogen and gasoline. The hydrogen and the gasoline are injected by a hydrogen injector 18 and a gasoline injector 20, respectively, and supplied into the internal combustion engine 10. When the temperature of the dehydrogenating catalyst 21 is higher than required, the amount of the hydrogenated gasoline to be supplied to the dehydrogenating catalyst 21 is increased. As a result, the endothermic effect of dehydrogenating reaction reduces the temperature of the dehydrogenating catalyst 21.
