Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for a vehicle in which an EGR introduction pipeline with an EGR cooler is lined with a catalyst case in a vertical and longitudinal attitude, for preventing damage to a cooling water introduction pipe and improving cooling performance.SOLUTION: An EGR cooler 17 incorporating an EGR introduction pipeline 18 is welded to a boss body 20 of a catalyst case 7 via an L-shaped joint pipe 19. A cooling water introduction pipe 26 connected to the lower end rear face of the EGR cooler 18 passes behind the catalyst case 7 and faces the direction of a water pump. The EGR cooler 18 is in a rearward tilting attitude. The catalyst case 7 serves as a cover to reduce the probability that pebbles flying during the travel of the vehicle hit the cooling water introduction pipe 26. A cooling water drain pipe 27 is connected to the upper part front face as the highest area out of the EGR cooler 18 to prevent the pooling of air and thus improve cooling performance.
