Abstract:
1. Internal combustion engine having a cylinder block (14), a cylinder head (1) secured to the cylinder block by bolts (12) and at least one overhead camshaft (2), running in bearings consisting of two bearing shells (4, 5), of which one bearing shell (4) is located in the cylinder head (1) and the other bearing shell (5) is located in a bearing cap (3) which is secured to the cylinder head (1) by bolts (6, 8), is such a way that these bearing cap bolts (6, 8) are positioned in the immediate vicinity of the camshaft (2), characterised in that at least one (8) of these bearing cap bolts and at least one cylinder head bolt (12) are in direct axial alignment and that this bearing cap bolt (8) is provided with an axial drilling (15) through which the cylinder head bolt (12) can be inserted.
