Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine with a supercharger capable of surely and effectively reducing the surge of a compressor while keeping an intake air quantity or supercharging pressure in an appropriate state, and further capable of avoiding an abrupt change in the intake air quantity or supercharging pressure even in returning to general supercharge control after the completion of the surge suppressing control, in surge suppressing control.SOLUTION: A bypass valve 16a provided in a bypass passage 16 bypassing the compressor 12a is formed so that its flow rate is controllable. An intake air flow rate Vi or an overall air flow rate Va passing through the compressor 12a is determined, and an upper limit value Poc of the outlet-side pressure Po of the compressor 12a which is not brought into a surge state at the air flow rate Vi or Va is calculated. The valve opening of the bypass valve 16a is controlled so that a detection value Pom of a pressure sensor 23 provided at the outlet side of the compressor 12a does not exceed an upper limit value Poc to control pressure Po on the downstream side of the compressor 12a.
