To provide an internal combustion engine with a variable compression ratio mechanism for relatively moving a cylinder block to a crankcase, wherein the satisfactory turning of a circular cam is ensured when the variable compression ratio mechanism utilizes a camshaft and the circular cam turning around an eccentric part of the camshaft centering on an eccentric hole.
The variable compression ratio mechanism utilizes the camshaft and the circular cam 56 turning around the eccentric part 57 of the camshaft centering on the eccentric hole. In a cylinder block side support 50 with a cam insertion hole 51 in which the circular cam is inserted, a lubricating oil passage PA1 is formed which opens to the cam insertion hole. In the circular cam, a communication passage PA2 is formed which makes the lubricating oil passage communicate with the eccentric hole, in a specific rotational position (A) of the camshaft.
