To provide an internal combustion engine which is simply structured and prevents an air filter from being polluted in operation.
The internal combustion engine is structured as follows: There is provided an air intake passage (27) for supplying fuel and combustion air. Part of the air intake passage (27) is formed inside a carburetor. In the part of the air intake passage (27), at least one fuel hole (34, 35) has an opening in the air intake passage (27), which communicates with a cleaning chamber (23) of the air filter (18) via an inlet (50), from which the internal combustion engine sucks in the combustion air via at least one filter element (22). Further, choke elements (25, 55, 65) which can justify its position to a choke position and an opening position are arranged. The choke element (25) shields the filter element (22) from the inlet (50) at the opening position.
