Abstract:

To reduce or avoid the occurrence of piston slap by a double-link piston-crank mechanism, and to reduce the weight of an internal combustion engine by adopting a magnesium alloy piston 8.

An upper link 5 having one end connected to the piston 8 through a piston pin 7 is connected to a lower link 4 rotatably attached to a crank pin 3 through an upper-lower link connection pin 6. The moving range 6A of the upper-lower link connection pin 6 by the reciprocating movement of the piston 8 is limited to one side of a reference axis 7A extending in the axial direction of a cylinder substantially through the center of the piston pin 7. The piston 8 is made of an alloy formed mainly of magnesium smaller in specific gravity than aluminum.
