To provide an internal combustion engine in which a driving sprocket is provided in a fixed condition to a crankshaft, a push plug mechanism is provided between a plate member fastened to a crankcase by using a single fastening member and a bearing interposed between the crankcase and the crankshaft, and a starter driven gear is relatively freely rotatably supported by the crankshaft in a position where the driving sprocket is held between the crankcase and the starter driven gear, and in which a push plug mechanism is disposed in the vicinity of the bearing interposed between the crankshaft and the crankcase and in addition thereto, a layout on the periphery of a cam chain is simplified.
A regulation protrusion part 95 disposed between the driving sprocket 62 and the plate member 53 while being offset from an axial line of the fastening member 94 when viewed from a direction along an axial line of the crankshaft 36 can abut on the side surface on the driving sprocket 62 side of the plate member 53 and the regulation protrusion part 95 is provided integrally with and projected from the crankcase 37 so as to be close to and opposed to the starter driven gear.
