Abstract:

To improve mixture performance of fresh air and recirculated exhaust gas and increase combustion efficiency in an internal combustion engine with an EGR device.

Recirculated exhaust gas flows from an exhaust gas recirculation pipe 15 into an intake pipe 8 via an exhaust gas introduction passage 17 and a communication hole 18. A guide groove 19 is formed immediately adjacent to the communication hole 18 on an outer peripheral surface of the intake pipe 8. The guide groove 19 is disposed on a front side of the communication hole 18 with respect to a flow direction of fresh air and is inclined with respect to an axis line of the intake pipe 8. When flowing into the intake pipe 8 through the communication hole 18, the guide groove 19 makes the recirculated exhaust gas flow in an oblique direction. The recirculated exhaust gas thus generates a swirl flow, to thereby improve mixture performance with the fresh air.
